Fisherman’s Cottage

The Fisherman’s Cottage is a period farmhouse, offering space for up to eight guests.

The ground floor offers a large farmhouse kitchen, truly the heart of this home from home, with a pantry area, fridge freezer, dishwasher and wine fridge. There is a large Aga oven as well as a microwave and the beautiful wood table that is the centrepiece of the room seating up to eight people, making this the perfect place to unwind at the end of a long day sightseeing, fishing or just enjoying the countryside.

Each of the three bedrooms can be made up as a double or twin, and all have their own en-suite bathrooms. There is also a sofa bed in the lounge area, for a further two guests.

Hidden in the kitchen walls are small silver trout and salmon (not real) which children can spend time trying to find.  It also has light features created from antique fishing reels

Step down into the comfortable lounge area, offering a comfortable selection of seating (including a sofa bed that sleeps two guests) arranged around the feature Inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove, perfect for the colder weather!  You can sit and read a book whilst sipping a pre-dinner drink or, if you prefer, there is a large wall mounted flat screen TV. On the far side of the lounge is a more formal dining area with a beautiful wooden dresser and an large table, perfect for big family dinners - Christmas would be amazing here with a roaring fire!

To left of the stairs is a utility area with a washing machine and tumble dryer for your use. Go through the door at the end of the utility room to access the terrace

First Floor: The staircase features a bespoke fly fishing themed handrail  and leads upstairs to two double bedrooms, and the master suite. All of the beds can be made up as doubles or twin beds and all rooms have en-suite bathrooms and flat screen TVs. The cottage bedrooms are named after popular fly fishing dry flies.

The Black Gnat - sleeps two in double or twin configuration with a fully tiled en-suite with shower, toilet and sink

The Klinkhammer - sleeps two in double or twin configuration with a fully tiled en-suite with shower, toilet and sink

The Wolley Bugger - sleeps two in double or twin configuration with a fully tiled en-suite with free standing bath, separate shower, toilet and sink. Additionally there is a dressing room area for your use

Terrace & Outside Facilities - We hope you enjoy the beautiful views from our spacious terrace, with an alpine cottage garden surrounding you, whose plants scent the air. There are plenty of tables and chairs to sit and relax, eat or just enjoy the view of the meadow and of course, the wood fired hot tub to relax away your worries. For those of you who are fly fishing whilst with us you will find hanging storage for your rods.

Additional Information: The cottage has underfloor heating in the lounge and  formal dining area, the bedrooms all have radiators and heated towel rails in the bathrooms. The Aga stays on all year round to naturally heat the kitchen. Despite its remote location the cottage is incredibly warm and cosy in winter and cool in summer, due to the thick, naturally insulating walls

Every bedroom is equipped with a hairdryer with tea / coffee making facilities available, and each bedroom can be made up as a double or twin, let us know your preference when you book

Pets: Whilst we are happy to welcome dogs, a maximum of two dogs are permitted at any one time. No other pets are allowed, and we would respectfully request that dogs are kept out of the bedrooms and off the furniture please. As responsible pet owners we know you will have poo bags to clear up after your dog, these can be disposed of in the bins provided around the estate.
